Maine High School Football Standings: Oxford Hills Leads Class A North

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The 2026 Maine high school football season is heading into October, and the playoff races are beginning to take shape across the state.

Here in Western Maine, the Oxford Hills Vikings are off to a perfect 3-0 start and currently sit atop Class A North.

Oxford Hills has opened the season with wins over Windham, Deering and Edward Little and will look to keep the unbeaten start going Friday night when the Vikings travel to Lewiston.

CLASS A NORTH

1. Oxford Hills/Buckfield — 3-0

The Vikings currently hold the top spot in Class A North and are the only unbeaten team in the division.

Oxford Hills opened the season with a 34-14 victory over Windham and has continued its strong start through the first three games.

Among the other teams battling in Class A North are Portland, Edward Little, Windham, Bangor, Lewiston and Deering.

CLASS A SOUTH

Class A South includes several of the state's top teams, led by unbeaten Thornton Academy and Bonny Eagle.

Thornton Academy enters October at 4-0 overall, including a 2-0 record in Class A South competition.

Other Class A South teams include South Portland, Massabesic, Noble, Sanford and Scarborough.

CLASS B NORTH

Cony has established itself as the early leader in Class B North.

The Rams enter October 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the region after victories over Fryeburg Academy, Skowhegan, Mt. Blue and Messalonskee.

Lawrence is also unbeaten overall at 4-0 and is among the teams to watch as the Class B North playoff race develops.

CLASS B SOUTH

The Class B South race includes Marshwood, Falmouth, Kennebunk, Cheverus, Biddeford and Westbrook.

Marshwood enters October 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Class B South, putting the Hawks squarely in the early playoff race.

STATEWIDE PICTURE

Several Maine 11-man football teams remain unbeaten heading into October, including:

  • Thornton Academy — 4-0

  • Leavitt — 4-0

  • Hermon — 4-0

  • Bonny Eagle — 4-0

  • Lawrence — 4-0

  • Portland — 4-0

  • Cony — 4-0

  • Marshwood — 4-0

  • Oxford Hills/Buckfield — 3-0

In the latest Varsity Maine statewide media poll, Oxford Hills is ranked No. 6 among Maine's 11-man football teams, behind Thornton Academy, Bonny Eagle, Portland, Lawrence and Marshwood.

OXFORD HILLS BACK IN ACTION FRIDAY

The Vikings return to action Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m., when Oxford Hills travels to Lewiston to take on the Blue Devils.
